Safe Vote Bill: Support for Hawaii Bill on Electronic Voting

I support the current efforts to require a Voter Verifiable Paper Trial (VVPAT) for any electronic voting system used in Hawaii. Key issues that should be included in this legisation are:

-- Voter Verified Paper Trial

-- Madate paper be the ballot source for any recount

-- Mandate random audit recounts for every election

-- Full transparency to the public for any electronic voting system chosen

-- Vendors should be prohibited from acting as administrator for the system

-- Modification of system and data is prohibited within a defined time period
